Volunteer! by Suzanne Wold

The following article was written by Suzanne Wold for this month’s issue of “The Hill”.  Thank you Suzanne for your belief in All Faith and the work we do !

Last summer groups of 5 to 20 Estrella students and adults volunteered at All Faith Community Services Buckeye and Goodyear Food Bank once per week.  The kids are back in school now, and only three or four Estrella people are volunteering on a regular basis.  All Faith needs a lot more regular and one-time-only volunteers.

All Faith Community Services is a faith-based, self-help community service organization.  All Faith’s mission is to: Help People; Change Lives; and Impact Communities.

All Faith helps individuals and families who are in critical need.  It provides emergency food supplies, clothing and basic necessities to individuals and families who have immediate critical needs.  The organization also provides the impetus, training and resources to help people move from poverty to productivity.  Through its individualized case management, training and support programs, All Faith takes a self-help approach to encourage individuals to build work skills, get a job, overcome obstacles and improve their lives, as well as those of their families.

Unlike some other “hand-out” programs, All Faith seeks to make profound, long-lasting changes in the lives of the individuals it serves.  With its self-help and work-based programs, it provides support, direction and training to assure that individuals who are in chronic need become productive members of the Community.  Through All Faith, people are helped, lives are changed and communities are impacted.

This wonderful organization gladly accepts donations of time, food, goods and money.  They need several items that we typically recycle; plastic bags (to separate frozen meat from fresh produce in food boxes); empty water bottles (to repackage laundry soap); and egg cartons.  They accept contributions of food, personal hygiene products, household goods, clothing and toys.  All Faith has a big need for volunteers of all capabilities and ages (as young as 10, if accompanied by an adult).  The atmosphere is uplifting and fun, and volunteers can readily see the difference they make.

If you or your group want(s) to volunteer with this important organization that serves the citizens of Goodyear and Buckeye, go to https://afcsaz.com/volunteer/
